The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Valerie Ebe,
has charged Christians to strive, at all times, to show love, peace and also
exhibit the fear of God for the good of the society.
Lady Ebe, who spoke on Sunday at The Apostolic Church, 69
Oron Road, Uyo, during the child dedication ceremony of one of her aides, Etido
Etete, said Christians should exhibit a strong bond of love and unity and be
selfless in their dedication to one another as it’s demanded of us by our
Creator.
She also reasoned that if love and unity exist in every
family, the society would sure be a better place for all to coexist peaceably.
The Deputy Governor, who said the child, little Uforo, would
be one of the future leaders of the state, said it was obvious from the turn-out
of a cross-section of church members, well wishers and loved ones that the
parents were loveable personalities.
She felicitated them on the dedication of their baby and
prayed God to make the child outstanding in life.
In his homily, the presiding Pastor, Pastor Bassey Usanga,
who gave his sermon from the Bible Book of Genesis Chapter Eight and Verses 12
– 15, said he was led by the spirit of God to bring the promises of the month
of March, gotten during the Church’s Anointing Service, on the people.
He said children were special gifts from God and should be
treated and adored as such and charged the parents to raise the child in
accordance with scriptures.
Pastor Usanga said the fervent prayer of the church will
continually sustain the Chief Godswill Akpabio-led administration.
Responding, Mr. Etete, thanked God for giving him a child
and pledged to bring up the child in the way of the Lord and also promised to
serve God faithfully in his life in appreciation of God’s faithfulness towards
him and his wife.
He described the Deputy Governor as a loving mother whose
benevolence has inspired his family and prayed God to continually bless her.
Highlights of the ceremony were special prayer by church’s
presbytery for the Deputy Governor, prayer for the State Government and
thanksgiving by the family.
