Political office holders from Itu Local Government Area on Thursday called for concerted efforts towards ensuring that the people of the Area continue to live together in one accord and collectively actualize their dreams.
Addressing the crowd that gathered at Itu Local Government Secretariat, Mbak Atai for the end of the year/get together party, the Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency; Rt. Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong said peace and harmony remains a panacea to meaningful development.
Dr. Archibong lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Itu Council Chairman; Hon Barr. Etetim Onuk for their effort towards a more peaceful Akwa Ibom State and Itu Local Government Area respectively. He particularly extolled the Akwa Ibom State First lady; Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for ensuring that Akwa Ibom women – including those from Itu Local Government are carried along in the scheme of things.
Similarly, the Member representing Itu State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; Hon. KufreAbasi Ediddem while delivering his message thanked the people for their continued support and thanked the Governor for citing key developmental projects in Itu Local Government, citing the recent commissioning of the dry bamboo tissue company as an example.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council; Rt. Hon. Barr. Etetim Onuk has called on the people of the area to emulate the ideals of love and sacrifice, in line with the season. He said it was necessary to appreciate God for his benevolence thus far, adding that the Get Together is their own little way of saying thanks you to the people of Itu Local Government for their sustained and unflinching support.
The Leader, Itu Legislative Council; Hon. Mrs. Favour Ubaha who spoke on behalf of Honourable Councilors charged the people to remain united and support the government at all levels, a position which was corroborated by a former Council boss; Hon. Okon Etim Okon and Obonanwan Deborah Ekpe in their respective goodwill messages.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of cash and other items to be shared across the 11 wards in the Local Government.
