GROUP LAUD GOV AKPABIO OVER ZONING

A socio-political group, Ikot Abasi Democratic Coalition (IDC) has commended the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State; Chief (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio CON for taking the bold step towards ensuring that the next Governor of the state is from Eket Senatorial District, stating that it shows that he is a true believer in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as zoning/power sharing is enshrined in the party’s constitution.
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the group’s enlarged meeting, held in Ikot Abasi on Saturday, February 18, 2014. The group thanked the Governor for appointing their facilitator; Hon. Mike Sabastine Etuk, as Commissioner I, Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission, they also appreciated him for appointing Mr. Ufot Nkangude, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, describing him as one of their major supporter since the inception of the group.
The group also used the opportunity to commend the Governor for appointing the Chairman of IDC; Hon. Usen Uko as member, Akwa Ibom State Environmental and Waste Management Board. They reiterated their resolve to replicate the massive support they gave to the Governor in 2011, come 2015 promising to support the Governor’s candidate. They particularly lauded the Governor for the people oriented projects and policies initiated by his administration.
In the communiqué read by their Chairman; Hon Usen Uko, the group urged its members who are qualified to vie for elective positions, warning all politicians, irrespective of ethnic background or political beliefs or affiliation to play to the rule, so as to avoid avoidable bitterness and rancor, before and after the 2015 polls stating that they believe in the unity and progress of Akwa Ibom State.
Others who attended the meeting include: Hon. Uduak Dick, Coordinator Edemaya II, Mr. Paul Usen, Coordinator Edenmaya III, Mfon Ishmael, Aniefiok Douglas, Simeon Ntuk and Mr. Felix Udo Jacob, amongst others.
